We hear it all the time. Someone’s kitty got the terrible diagnosis of cancer and the veterinarian suggests either chemotherapy or euthanization. The odds sound hopeless and expensive. Is there anything that can be done for cats with cancer?
While each cat’s specific situation will vary, it’s important to note that there are natural ways we can help our kitties with cancer. In this post we will address 3 ways to help your kitty fight the C word.
How to help cats with cancer
- Diet is key to helping every cat and cats that have been diagnosed with cancer are especially in need of a good diet. The studies show that carbohydrates feed cancer cells, so if we are feeding our cats a food with corn, wheat, rice, potatoes, etc. we are not helping their situation. Cats do not require carbs to survive, so let’s look into feeding a species appropriate diet that will not feed the problem.
- The right CBD can sometimes be a miracle for cats with cancer. Studies show the benefits of cannabis and cannabinoids for helping to fight cancer in people and we’re seeing similar results with kitties too. This isn’t true for every CBD tincture, but a full spectrum CBD can help stop the spread of cancer cells and the THC can even kill those cells!
- Antioxidant supplementation. Holistic veterinarians who are treating cancer patients are seeing a significant increase in success rate with the addition of antioxidant supplementation.
