The stereotype that cats are only female pets is actually still alive – and that kills me. “A dog is a man’s best friend” has been touted for decades and many men still say that owning a cat would make him seem more feminine. This is crap, and I think all of us crazy cat women disagree with this notion.
A while back, I wrote a blog titled “5 Reasons Why Cats Are Better Than Men” – which basically explains why I think it would be better to have a cat than have a man, if there must be a choice. But the truth is, we shouldn’t have to make that choice and men shouldn’t feel emasculated because they love cats. In fact, statistics show that men who love cats are smarter, kinder, stronger and more beautiful than men who despise kitties – something us crazy cat ladies have known for a long time. So let’s talk about why men SHOULD have cats.
Let’s face it, men. Women don’t need (and are not as attracted to) the ‘macho type’ man who won’t wear light colors or pet kittens. That no longer shows strength to good women. Instead, we see men who are comfortable and secure in their masculinity as a sign of strength. Those who show compassion and thoughtfulness are the most attractive men (and people!). Even Hollywood knows the ladies most appreciate a good (and good looking) man who can think and be in touch with their softer side. If they are cat lovers or owners – it’s even better.
Statistics show that cat owners score higher in intelligence levels than dog owners. That doesn’t mean that people who only own dogs are dumb – it just means that they are dumbER. Ok, that’s stretching it a bit. 🙂 I actually don’t know why cat people prove to be smarter – but why argue with statistics? If you’ve got a man who loves cats, just be proud that you picked a smart one. 🙂
Cat guys are usually more touchy feely too. Us women understand the importance of a soft touch after a stressful day. Men who are able to offer those soft and gentle touches are much more likely to have a long and successful relationship. Cats just have a way of opening up that ‘gentle side’ in all of us.
Men with cats are much better at listening to our cat stories as well. They understand the cuteness that we melt over and they are not annoyed when we ask them to pause their football or video game to watch Mr. Fluffy do something funny. That’s a major plus for us cat ladies.
All in all, men should have cats because it makes them better humans. They are more fun, more loving, more confident, more intelligent and overall better lovers. If you’re a guy who has contemplated getting a cat – go for it. Not only will it help make you better as a person, I guarantee that it will make your love life much more exciting and successful.
