The amount of cat parents feeding raw diets is growing rapidly. Since the launch of the film Pet Fooled, a documentary exposing the inner workings of the pet food industry, the fear of feeding commercially processed foods is real. Yet, for some reason, many of us continue to turn a blind eye to the chemical based medications we give our cats. Before you give your cat medications, please check to see if there is a safer option first.
There’s a place for medicine. We and our kitties will likely need medical intervention at some point in life. We’re not anti-medicine. However, we’ve seen the negative effects of chemical based treatments first-hand and prefer to avoid these at all costs.
Should You Give Your Cat Medications?
If you were dealing with an issue and you had the choice of taking a prescription for a week or taking a vitamin for a week, which would you choose? Unless you live under a rock, you know that chemical medications come with side-effects. Commercials for medications should scare the crap right out of us, with all the side-effects listed.
So why would you give your cat medications without thinking twice about the side effects? Cats’ bodies are much smaller and less tolerant than human bodies. If we’re worried about suffering from the effects of chemical treatments for people, we should be even more cautious when it comes to our feline friends.
The good news is that there are several natural remedies that can be purchased or made at home that can work just as well to help heal your kitty. Although society still encourages medical treatment, many of us will continue to successfully treat and prevent illness naturally.
