You’ve seen the image on the internet saying “if my cat doesn’t like you, neither do I“, suggesting that cats can sense a bad person, but is this true? Cats sense energy better than most humans, in my opinion.

I found an article published in 1991 in The New York Times titled “Cats Are Excellent Judges Of Character“. The author writes, “Although a cat may not care (as that word is generally used) about human morals, cats can and do distinguish between good and bad people, and are excellent judges of human character and emotion. My cats, for instance, will shy away from certain new acquaintances almost immediately; and I have found that, in most such cases, those people end up being of questionable character.

Cats have incredible sensory abilities. Their fight or flight instincts are decided in a Nano second. They are most fluent in body language with a mystical ability to read energy and emotion.

Have you ever been sick and your cat just knows and comes to comfort you? Or have you ever been in a heightened anxiety state and you notice that your cats are either extra anxious or steer clear of you? This is because cats sense those emotions and react accordingly.

Studies have proven that cats smell fear. When we’re stressed out we release cortisol and our kitties can smell it from a mile away. When someone comes over to our house who has a fear of cats, our kitties sense that immediately.

I feel it would be wise for us to pay attention to the people that our cats like and who they don’t. We could likely be better judges of character ourselves if we’d just listen to our kitties.
